People just do nothing

People just do nothing is a British comedy Documentary series which tells the story of 'Kurupt FM' a pirate radio station ran by a group of useless Mc's and Dj's and their quest to become Megastars. This series concentrates mostly on four members of the the station; MC Grinda who is the so called 'Leader' of the group, who is a very obnoxious, hot headed guy who claims to be "the best MC in the galaxy", DJ Beats who is an idiotic simpleton who is Grinda's right hand man, Chabbudy G who is the manager of the group and a wannabe entrepreneur having one business failure to the next, and DJ Steves a Moronic waster who owns the location of the radio station. People just do nothing is a great take on the music industry and the struggle of achieving fame and fortune in the music industry. This type of story has been told before in many occasions but what this series more original is the way that it's dialogue and characters are written, the characters are so ridiculously stupid and vague to their own reality's that you feel connected to them to in the sense that you want to see them succeed because even how bad they are at what they do, you can recognise they are trying to chase their dreams, this is more prevalent with the character of grinda, he has his own family but he is completely oblivious to anything apart from this underground radio station that he wants to one day turn into a multi million company, even though we as the audience are pretty certain these achievements will probably never come to fruition but we route for the character because they have all these hilarious quirks and traits to them that make them feel like cartoon characters in many ways. I decided to view the first episode script to get some ideas on how I can introduce and build my characters when writing my script; for example in Scene 4 of episode 1 Grinda and Beats are doing a talking heads interview where they are explaining to the director if their radio station is illegal or not.
from seeing this conversation on screen and on paper you gather that the characters of Grinda and beats are idiots in the sense that they think they inspirational people and they have a massive impact on their fans and community but in reality no one actually knows who they are. This type of humour is used throughout the entire series we find that these characters think they are much better and famous in the music industry than they actually are and that plays well throughout the series because we trying to see these people strive to achieve greatness, but because they are so oblivious and obnoxious to their own reality that adds the comedic weight to their characters, because if it was just them trying to become famous and their characters didn't have these quirks it wouldn't be as funny, the characters are what makes the show so appealing to the audience. I want to be able to write and produce a project that is quite similar in sense to how the scenes and that dialogue is put into place. I think that this show manages to set up scenes which add more and more to development to the characters and their inner secrets and insecurities.
